Tarzan and Jane

Description

This is a painting of Tarzan and Jane. I started this so long ago and have been working on it on and off for about a year (yes a year!). It was a project for myself since my last self project got taken away from me by my sister for her birthday. So now my Beauty and the Beast picture is hanging in her room. Oh well atleast I have it scanned. I found this piece recently and decided to push myself to finish it. Even though I should be working on animating walkcycles right now (sigh). I'm still not 100% happy with it though. Maybe I'll pull it up later when I'm not so busy. As you can probably tell I hate painting backgrounds so it looks a little rushed, yes. I bought the actual book of Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs and loved it! So I was inspired to paint a piece based off of it. It was done in Photoshop with a Wacom Tablet. I used pointalism in it quite a bit.

You can see all the iterations I did of the piece in the link below (there are about 6). I went through many different changes to achieve this final piece.

It looks like she's trying to push him away while he's so powerful but so gentle as he examines this beautiful and delicate girl that he's never seen anything like before. The hat lying on the ground is a good touch. I can imagine him lifting it off her as she futilely tries to keep him from taking it, and then tossing it aside when he loses interest and forgetting about it.
